 Finding peace, Calm and Stillness
INTRODUCTION TO MEDITATION AND MINDFULNESS WEEKEND COURSE - EVERYONE WELCOME
Saturday 16th October 2010 & Sunday 17th October 2010
10.00am-12.00pm & 2.00pm-4.00pm both days
ABOUT THIS MEDITATION AND MINDFULNESS COURSE
Meditation is a technique for calming and focusing the mind. It is a series of teachings designed to train the mind to calm down, leading to a relaxed one-pointed focus and ultimately deep insight.
In this weekend Meditation and Mindfulness Course at the beautiful Cornwallis Country Hotel in rural North Suffolk, Tibetan meditation teacher Lama Rabsang will be teaching simple meditation and mindfulness techniques, which can be practised by people of any faith or none. There will be plenty of seating on chairs - you will not be expected to sit on the floor!
EVERYONE IS WELCOME INCLUDING BEGINNERS - you don't have to be Buddhist to come on this course!
ABOUT LAMA RABSANG
Born in 1971 to a family of farmers in Nepal, his family home land is on the borders with Tibet and as such is full Tibetan culture and traditions.
He took robes when he was eleven years old and spent his early years studying under the direction of his uncle.
He made his way to Palpung Sherabling Monastery, India in 1990 where he was able to complete his studies. He entered the three year retreat and on successful completion he was appointed the discipline master of Palpung Sherabling Monastery, serving in the post for four years.
From 2001-2004 he attended a language school in Birmingham, UK, to learn English and the culture. He returned to his home for the first time in 2001 where he had an emotional reunion with his family and the monastic community there for the first time in over 10 years. In July 2004, at the request of his students, the Chamgon Tai Situpa appointed Lama Rabsang the resident teacher at the newly founded Palpung Changchub Dargyeling, and he gave Lama Rabsang the title Choje. The centre was initially located in Llandridod Wells, before moving to Cardiff in 2007, and settling in Brynmawr in 2009.
Lama Rabsang keeps busy, working to establish the pure Palpung traditions in Europe. He visits Swansea every Wednesday to lead meditation, prayers and to give teachings. He teaches in Llanidloes every month, and he regularly travels to three sites in Finland where he gives empowerments, teaching and instructions, and runs the Brynmawr centre, leading the regular prayers and meditation sessions, and offers public teachings and advice for individuals.
